Mild conditions continue

15th January 2025

Mild conditions are continuing, the cloud cover this morning cleared to give a sunny afternoon. The temperature from our weather station near the summit of Aonach Mor reached high of 6.9 degrees Celsius at 4am last night, this combined with very strong winds has continued to give rapid loss of the remaining snow. Ice fall could be heard in Coire was Ciste on Ben Nevis today. These photos of Ben Nevis show the snowiest area of Lochaber, other hills will have even less snow.

The approach slopes below number 2 gully area. The remaining ice will most likely disappear over the next few mild days. Ice fall will remain a hazard in these areas.

The slopes below number 3 gully area are equally bare, again ice that hasn’t fallen down will likely do so over the next few days.
