Thawing

4th March 2025

It was a cloudy day with storm force winds and it stayed dry while I was on the hill. The low cloud restricted views but there has been a significant snowmelt since yesterday. The rate of melting will increase tonight with heavy rain in addition to the mild and windy conditions currently present.

Looking towards the North face of Ben Nevis. A little snow visible here below the cloud base.

Plenty of water in the Allt a’ Mhuilinn. There hasn’t been much rain in the last few days so this is mainly snowmelt.

More snowmelt!

The CIC hut sitting just below the cloud base. What remains of the snow was hidden in the cloud and it wasn’t possible to take meaningful photos.
