Today is the penultimate forecast and blog this season with the final forecast of the 25/26 season being issued tomorrow (Wednesday). Today was dry with strong South-Easterly winds giving drifting and redistribution through the morning. The freezing level rose to around 1200 metres during the afternoon.

Rain is forecast tonight and through tomorrow with the freezing level around 2300 metres. Remaining relatively mild for the next few days.

A great set of photos to end the winter. If MWIS is correct the end is in sight soon. It’s been good seeing the photos this winter and I’ve had two good short trips north in Feb and March. So no complaints. Thank you for all your hard work over the last few months. Looking forward now to see what next winter brings. First the long sunny spring and summer : )

Thanks for all the work this season and the excelent blogs. Just one thought on the end of season. It seems a shame that forecasting has stopped for regions where we are still seeing significant avalanche activity. I skiied on the Bidean a couple of days ago and condtitions were quite techy with some windslab, cornices and warming instabilities. Avalanche activity down to 750m. I think most people going out at the moment can extrapolate from N. Gorms and Lochaber forecasts but there seems a real risk of someone getting into trouble in a non forecasted region this past week, which would be a shame given all the hard work all season long up to this point. Not trying to critisize anyone. Just my thoughts. Congrats on a busy and interesting snow year though!

As someone living on the outskirts of Liverpool, I find these reports fascinating and a great insight into a world I know next to nothing about.

    Thanks,

    Mark
