Scattered showers
30th March 2024
Today was a day of scattered showers with sunny spells in between. Showers first thing this morning cleared to give a dry spell late morning before further showers early afternoon cleared to give a fine finish to the day.
Showers fell as snow above around 900 metres, although with a freezing level of around 1100 metres, deposits rapidly thawed at lower elevations. Around 2cm of snow fell accumulated at higher elevations this morning with similar accumulations during the afternoon showers.
A mild day is forecast tomorrow. Cornice collapse will be a hazard as temperatures rise particularly where directly in the sun and on Ben Nevis where larger cornices remain.
