Thawing and consolidating

16th February 2024

It was a pleasant mild, dry day with light Westerly winds. There has been considerable loss of snow over the last 2 days but the snowpack has consolidated significantly and stability is now generally good.

Photos below to show conditions.

The snow fences have worked well to allow some skiing.

Looking down Easy Gully.

Most cornices have collapsed but some remain.

Aonach Mor plateau was mostly snow free except for the tops of the East facing corries.

All I could see of Ben Nevis.

Conditions higher on the Ben.
