Aonach Mor

4th March 2023

Today was another cold clear day with some good views. The existing snow pack remains firm well bonded and stable. There was a very thin covering of soft new snow. This is not currently significant and was melting fast where exposed to the sun. Today I headed round to the East side of Aonach Mor to get some views of the remaining snow cover and crags in Coire an Lochain.

Coire an Lochain Twins area.

Coire an Lochain, area South of Easy Gully.

Coire Dubh still holding some firm snow. For anyone thinking of skiing here, there is no snow on the links back round to the ski area.

Looking across to the Grey Corries.

East face of Carn Mor Dearg.

Looking over the ridge of Carn Mor Dearg to  Number 5 gully area on Ben Nevis.

Foot prints and ski tracks on the summit plateau. There is a thin layer of soft new snow in many locations. This new snow is not currently significant but could become more significant if windslab develops on top of it.
