Wintery

25th February 2023

It felt like winter again on the summits today with a temperature of -5 degrees Celsius, 20 mph winds, poor visibility riming and a trace of fresh snow. Little change in the snowpack since yesterday.

Pictures below from Aonach Mor:

Coire Dubh

A slumping cornice, well frozen today in the cold temperatures.

Climbers descending Easy Gully.

Fresh rime. This wasn’t here yesterday and grows into the wind, in this case a Nort East wind.

Cloudy on the higher tops but a good bit of sunshine elsewhere today.

A trace of new snow at 650 metres.

Carn Mor Dearg (summit in the cloud).

Almost clear on Ben Nevis.
