Aonach Mor Holding the Cloud

15th January 2023

The cloud hung around on Aonach Mor all day significantly reducing visibility at higher levels.  I had been keen to look evidence of recent avalanche activity on the East face, but nothing of note could be observed today. Hopefully a bit clearer tomorrow.

Skiers waiting for one of the lift this morning. The sun was catching the hills in the background, and at this point I still had high hopes that was going to be the case on Aonach Mor an hour or two later. It didn’t really work out like that.

A not very good photo of the top of Easy Gully. I was hoping to see a bit more today, but the cloud seemed to sit stubbornly on top of Aonach Mor all day, and this was about as good as it got visibility/photography wise.

Ben Nevis trying to clear, Carn Mor Dearg holding a bit of cloud. Although not shown in this shot, Aonach Mor was holding even more cloud. About 10 minutes later the Ben was clear while Aonach Mor held onto its cloud all day.
