The arrival of the snow.

4th December 2021

Well today certainly had a bit of a different feel to it than yesterday. There has been a fair bit of snow overnight above about 600 meters. The was all pretty soft, but was sitting on bare ground rather than any form of base. It was also deep enough to hide holes in the ground and gaps between boulders. This all went to travel on foot quite hard work at times. Looks like a nice day tomorrow, hopefully be able to see a bit more then.

Fresh snow at the top station (altitude 650 meters) this morning.

Diagonal icicles formed by the wind on a snow fence. When I took this shot the wind was actually blowing from the left to right, it must have switched direction overnight. This would be fitting with what the weather forecast had said yesterday what the wind would significantly change direction overnight.

Visibility at 1100 meters was poor.

Visibility at 1200 meters was no better. You can just make out the Vodafone tower in the gloom.
