Coire na Ciste

5th December 2021

After yesterday’s wallow about in the cloud, it was nice to have a better visibility day today. I headed up into Coire na Ciste on Ben Nevis. I was quite surprised to see just one team in the coire. The snowpack remains generally pretty thin. Where there are deeper deposits, these tend not to be well bonded. However, these areas tend to be generally avoidable.

Meanwhile over on Aonach Mor. The situation is similar over here; the snowpack is generally shallow but there a few pockets of slab about, mainly at the top of slopes and gullies.
