Wet day with avalanche activity

7th March 2020

Today was wet and windy. I observed a large avalanche out of number 5 gully. When I returned down the path from the CIC hut there was fresh debris below the Castle gullies that wasn’t there previously.

Debris at the bottom of number 5 gully, this avalanche occurred while I was in the area at about 1130.

Hi, I top roped the CIC falls on Saturday, which was wet and not particularly nice but safe….
Castle gully avalanched 4times around late morning and the bowl above the shroud spat it’s load onto the bowl which triggered the 4th release.
    Cheers Stu

Thanks for the information Stu, will put those avalanches in the system. Castle Gully certainly has been a “frequent flyer” over the past few weeks!
