Weather Incoming (Again)

17th March 2020

Weather wise today was similar to yesterday in that a dry (but windy) morning was followed by significant precipitation during the afternoon. One difference is that today the freezing is slowly dropping through the afternoon whereas yesterday it rose to around summit level. There was fresh avalanche debris below the Castle Gullies this morning, and I suspect other fresh piles of debris below some of the other gullies (visibility was poor higher up the mountain). With heavy snow falling as I type I suspect that there will be a few more avalanche this afternoon.

Carn Dearg Buttress this morning.

The Douglas Boulder and Minus Face below the cloud.

Looking over to Trident Buttress.

The mountain disappearing as it started snowing.

The view from the office window this afternoon. It rained at glen level for most of the afternoon. Given the temperatures this would all have fallen as snow at higher levels.
