Windy

30th January 2017

It was a cold clear morning. The wind increased through the day, as forecast, and was moving a lot of the fresh snow. Some of this was forming windslab in sheltered areas but much of it was getting blown off the mountain to melt or sublimate into the atmosphere.

Aonach Mor, Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis. Snow level around 600 metres.

Looking West from Aonach Mor.

Carn Mor Dearg with Ben Nevis partly hidden in cloud behind.

The soft fresh snow was getting redistributed by the strong wind.
