Darkness at Noon (well slightly dim at 9.30am)

20th March 2015

Today was the day of the solar eclipse. Around 9.30 this morning the moon would block out about 95% of the sun. However, in Lochaber we did not need the moon to block out the sun’s rays, as is often the case we had a nice thick layer of cloud to do that. However, it did get noticeable darker around 9.30 this morning. It stayed claggy through the day with some light drizzle. Looking much better for tomorrow.

Behold the mighty eclipse. The sky did go a bit darker (although may not as dark as this photo suggest).

Some layers of icy rime on the grass at 1200 metres.

It was generally pretty soggy and damp at higher levels such as here on the Aonach Mor plateau.
