Cold and showery

19th December 2014

There were heavy snow showers on Ben Nevis today. During the showers conditions were quite unpleasant with strong winds, poor visibility and lots of blowing snow. On the positive side winter conditions are improving in the colder temperatures with the buttresses hoaring up and ice forming quite rapidly. There were areas of fresh windslab. Although these were not that extensive, they did show poor stability and were building through the day.
