More Castle Gullies avalanches.

2nd February 2014

Another avalanche out of the Castle Gullies. This released this morning about half an hour before this picture was taken, and is the 3rd major avalanche in just over a week out of the Castle Gullies.  The debris splits into two branches, the left hand one (further away one in this picture) just about reached the burn. Another avalanche occurred in Number 5 Gully about the same time. I suspect there were plenty of other avalanches as well, but the poor visibility stopped us observing them.

Climbers head up to the Douglas Boulder. Poor visibility high up the hill.
