Ben Nevis

4th March 2018

Despite wandering around various nooks and crannies I found very little soft snow on Ben Nevis today,  significantly less than I had found on Aonach Mor yesterday (and even that was not very much). Most of the snowpack is hard and icy, crampons and an axe are required for anything other than very gentle slopes. There were a few teams out, but not very many, I guess a lot of people have not been able to access the hills, or are climbing low level ice elsewhere.

Carn Dearg Buttress

The CIC hut and Coire na Ciste.

The view from the style on my way back down the hill. The hills disappeared into the cloud, and it tried to snow at bit, but never it never really came to very much.
