Cloudy on top.

3rd February 2018

Well it was another day of poor visibility about about 900 metres. There had been some fresh snow during the night, with some pockets of instability. Some substantial cornices exist.

Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg disappearing into the cloud.

A weak looking cornice viewed from close quarters.

Someone must of got a shock when they accidentally discovered this crack, which was covered in snow, which was about 5 metres back from the cornice at the top of Easy Gully. Cracks often form in this area as the rather heavy cornice settles. Note the shovel is just for scale, and had not been used to clear the crack

A substantial block of cornice debris which came down a few days ago.
