Increasing Winds

Today’s south easterly winds gradually increased resulting in plenty of drift. Corresponding windslab accumulation was apparent in Coire na Ciste on Ben Nevis, and this is likely to continue with the current wind direction and windspeed. In many places this windslab is poorly bonded, and will be sensitive in steep wind sheltered locations, particularly in the complex terrain on Ben Nevis.
Climbers on the summit of the ‘Douglas Boulder’. A major crag at the termination of Tower Ridge, only on Ben Nevis could it be referred to tongue in cheek as a “boulder”.
Comb Buttress jutting out through the cloud. No.2 Gully lies to the left and No.3 Gully to the right – both in cloud.
Castle Ridge in the foreground in this shot. ‘The Castle’ is the imposing crag just right of centre.
