Cold and dry

It was a cold and mainly dry day with moderate North-North-Westerly winds. Very occasional snow showers did not result in any significant accumulations. The snowpack is very firm in all locations. At higher elevations travel with crampons is relatively easy although the consequences of a slip or trip could be very serious. It’s a bit trickier at around mid mountain height with icy paths and rivers, verglas on rocks and patchy firm snow.
