A mild, wet and windy day in Lochaber. Luckily the strong South-South-Easterly winds moderated a little allowing slightly easier progress up on to Ben Nevis. Some snow overnight was rapidly turning to slush close to the CIC Hut as the freezing level gradually rose, heading to the summit and beyond.
As I left the Allt a’Mhuilinn was in full spate. I suspect that there would have been some avalanche activity this afternoon as the snowpack became fully saturated in the mild wet conditions.
The Temperature at the CIC hut over the last 24 hours. It hovered around plus 1 degree C overnight before shooting up to a tropical plus 6 degrees C.
