Freezing on the summits

24th January 2020

It was a dry day with moderate South-Westerly winds although in the cloud you still got fairly damp. The freezing level was around 1000 metres and above this the snow surface was starting to freeze and verglas was forming on the rocks. At lower elevations the snowpack was slowly thawing.

Above around 1000 metres there was a layer of very clear verglas on the rocks. It was easier to see on the grass.
