A day of two halves.

2nd March 2008

After a temporary overnight thaw followed by a sub-zero Sunday the snowpack had a melt-freeze crust in most locations. In places this was breakable, elsewhere hard and solid. Visibility during the morning was quite good with a light wind but things changed dramatically just after midday. The westerly wind increased significantly and there were frequent snow showers with considerable drifting. The crags are looking good at the moment.
