Warming up

After remaining below freezing at summit level overnight the temperature rose quickly this morning reaching 4.8 degrees Celsius on Aonach Mor by midday. Lots of sunshine and great views. It looks like it will stay warm for the next few days. The snowpack will slowly consolidate but ice fall, cornice collapse and wet snow surface sloughs will remain hazards.

The East ridge of Carn Dearg Meadhonach is a great summer scramble or easy winter climb. The shadow cast by it’s profile make it look fairly extreme.
