Clear Morning.
3rd March 2016
After a few unsettled days it was back to being fine clear conditions this morning. During the afternoon layers of cloud came and went. In general snow cover is pretty good at the moment, but this did mean that some approaches would be pretty hard work on foot. Some minor overnight avalanche activity was noted.

Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds. The pattern in the band of cloud heading out from the figures is indicative of a Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, which is caused by a velocity difference between different atmospheric layers. These clouds form at the boundary between the two layers.Â
