Slow thaw

22nd December 2025

The freezing level was above the summits today and the snowpack was thawing, particularly at lower elevations. Rain in the morning was followed by a dry afternoon. The snowpack is generally stable but remaining cornices are prone to collapse in the mild conditions.

The summits were in the cloud so not the best day for photos but a couple from Aonach Mor showing the snowier conditions in the cloud. and a couple of photos taken from lower down showing what could be seen below the clouds.
