Grey Corries

2nd April 2025

Today was another fine sunny day with fresh South-Easterly winds. Todays observations were from the Grey corries giving good views of the cover in the Grey corries themselves and also on Aonach Mor and Aonach Beag. There are still areas of snow particularly on steep North to East aspects mostly above 1100 metres. The greatest areas are around coire rims and in gullies with ridge lines having lot less snow. The snow had become firmer overnight although was continuing to gradually thaw and diminish in the mild temperatures today, particularly where in direct sunlight. The forecast is for the high pressure to remain and the mild, dry sunny conditions to continue.

Looking into the Grey corries on the approach. Stob a Choire Leith on the left (Stob Coire Claurigh just further left out of shot) and Stob Coire Easain on the right.

Looking West along the Grey corries from near the summit of Stob Coire Claurigh, Aonach Beag visible behind. Very little snow on the ridge line itself with snow patches present on the more steep North and East facing slopes.

The east facing slopes of Coire na Ceannain often hold snow for spring skiing, not this year with only a few patches around the coire rim.

Binnean Mor with its steep North and East facing slopes holding more snow than the rest of the Mamores.
