Sunny but Windy

6th February 2025

It was a lovely sunny day in Lochaber today. However, what is not apparent in the photos was the wind. walking up Aonach Mor things were pretty calm until I reached an altitude of about 1050 metres. Above that level it was pretty breezy with gusts of 50 mph according to the met station. The snowpack is slowly consolidating, although there are a few sections of weak cornice and some moderately bonded deposits at the tops of the gullies.

Benjamin Nevis and his neighbour Karen Mor Dearg looking rather fine today.

The view out over the Grey Coires from the top of Coire an Lochan.

Some weak looking cornices remain.
