Optical phenomenon

22nd January 2025

It was a lovely day to be on the summits with sunshine, sub zero temperatures and no wind! There is a dusting of fresh snow and all remaining old snow patches are now frozen and very firm. Low cloud seemed to slowly rise from the valleys this morning reaching the summits in the afternoon.

Fog bow

A glory. If the cloud had been a bit closer there would have been a Broken Spectre visible too.

A ptarmigan near the snow line at around 800 metres.

Carn Dearg, North-West of Ben Nevis, catching some sun.

The cloud level was rising. My last view of Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis before I descended through the layer of cloud.
