Coire na Ciste, Ben Nevis

18th March 2025

Todays site for observations was the North face of Ben Nevis, the opposite side to yesterday. A calm sunny day gave good weather, although it feels warm in the sun the freezing level is still below the summits and this is noticeable in shaded areas. There is still snow in the high gullies on Ben Nevis, the snow is firm and these conditions were being enjoyed by those out today but does give serious run outs onto rocks below. Little change is expected tomorrow with the high pressure continuing to give calm sunny weather. There is some ice remaining and icefall was noted today particularly where ice was in the sun.
