From West to East

20th March 2024

It was a mainly dry day with very light, variable winds. There was a slight dusting of fresh snow overnight above around 850 metres, most of which melted again during the day. Snowpack stability remains good in all locations.

Changeable weather coming up; warm, wet and windy tomorrow and then colder and windy on Friday.

Photos below from West to East across the Lochaber area starting with Ben Nevis. Thanks to Lucy and Alice for the shots from Ben Nevis which seemed to have the best weather today.

From my observations, as cornices get older the likelihood of slumping, like this one has done, increases and the likelihood of collapsing decreases.
