A fine halo.

25th February 2024

It was another fine day on Aonach Mor today. There was a thin layer of high cloud making the sun feel less strong than it did yesterday. Ice crystals within the high cloud reflected and refracted the light, in this case producing a fine halo around the sun.

It was defiantly busier than yesterday with numerous walkers, climber and ski tourers being spotted. The snowpack is very slowly consolidating, but the large and weak looking cornices remain.

Lovely halo round the sun. The halo was actually circular, but has been distorted slightly by the wide angle lens that I used to take this shot.

Aonach Beag from the col between it and Aonach Mor. This are ais usually pretty quiet, but as can be seen from the tracks there were a number of teams in this area today.
