An improving day

17th February 2023

The worst of Storm Otto passed during the night giving gusts of 108mph, a 4.2 degree temperature peak at 1200 metres and 14mm of rain in a 3 hour period. It was still very windy at dawn and the freezing level had dropped so showers were falling as snow on the summits. As the day progressed the showers got much less frequent, the wind continued to ease and we even got a little sunshine.

A dusting of fresh snow above 750 metres on Ben Nevis and plenty of water in the burn from last nights rain.

North-East Buttress and Tower Ridge.

Sunshine to the North but BenNevis remained in the cloud.

A dusting of snow on Aonach Mor.
