Warm, wet and windy

22nd January 2023

Not the most inspiring day on the hill today. The good thing was that the rain was fairly light. The snowpack is slowly consolidating. At higher elevations wet snow surface instabilities are present and some deeper windslab instabilities are persisting. Remaining cornices are prone to collapse.

Debris from cornice collapse.

Aonach an Nid

Aonach Mor this morning.

Temperatures at 1200 metres. After a week of cold conditions the temperature rose rapidly in the early hours of Saturday and has then carried on rising slowly.
