A melt-freeze cycle

26th November 2021

The freezing level rose to around 1200 metres last night before dropping to around 500 metres today giving a crust to the snow on all but the very highest slopes. There were occasional light snow showers today with strong Northerly winds.

Lochaber should miss the strongest winds from Storm Arwen but winds will still be very strong overnight, easing gradually through the day. Unfortunately we also miss most of the snow from the storm.

Some pictures of the generally shallow snowpack below.

Just a dusting of snow while I was out. This area was clear of snow in the morning.
