Warm then cold

If you were not really concentrating on the weather last night, you may have missed a fairly brief but dramatic rise in the temperature:Â Later yesterday afternoon the freezing level rose quickly to above the summits before falling quickly in the early hours of today.
The snowpack went through a significant thaw before refreezing again and then a reasonable amount of fresh snow deposited on top
But on the ground, you could easily have missed this as the snowpack this morning seemed quite similar to the snowpack yesterday morning!
