The unpleasantness has arrived!

16th January 2019

Yes, winter does seem to have arrived.

The snow started last night with some quite strong Westerly winds so there has been a reasonable amount of snow transportation. in the more sheltered locations where the snow accumulations are more significant, its quite arduous underfoot as there is no base to the snowpack.
Deeper accumulations (with instabilities) are to be found on higher, sheltered scarp slopes

Unpleasant at 1000m!

In the shelter of the Nid Ridge at around 850m

Looking up towards Aonach an Nid from around 650m. Most of the new snow has been blown over the summit ridge
