Overnight freeze
14th March 2016
Clear skies overnight resulted in the snow surface freezing hard at all levels. Aspects in the sun softened quickly during the day with shady aspects only softening very slowly.
Blue sky over Ben Nevis.
Slumping cornices.
Ski tracks showing up well on slightly softened snow.
Aonach Mor plateau, still just ok for travel on skis.
Debris from cornice collapse below Spikes, Aonach Mor…
…but lots of fragile cornice remains.
Debris has run a long way down Coire an Lochan.
