Still thawing

18th February 2024

Another mild day with the freezing level above the summits. There were strong West-South-Westerly winds and it stayed mostly dry with only a little light rain.

The snowpack thaw is continuing, becoming patchy in many places, although there is still reasonable cover on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Cornice collapse and ice fall remain a hazard.
