A driech day, and different types of avalanches.
5th April 2023
Today was wet and warm with freezing levels well above the summits. It did dry up a bit in the afternoon, but by then the damage was already done in terms of further snow melt and thawing. At least it will cool down a little over the next few days with freezing levels forecast to fluctuate around the tops.
There is a lot of talk, regards signs of environmental changes on the landscape, in these climate changing times. One of these is landslips and landslides, often caused by very wet weather with / or rapid changes in temperature. There are a couple newish landslips on the Western flank of Carn Beag Dearg, which are apparent as you walk up to the CIC hut.
