Significant deposits of unstable windslab are developing on North through East to South-East aspects above 850 metres as demonstrated by the pictures below.
Observable avalanche activity is always the surest sign that there is an existing hazard on the mountain. Today there were all the clues, including a very recent, cornice triggered avalanche which probably happened around 7am. Â The culprit was a section of fresh fragile cornice, which collapsed and caused the avalanche.
