Not saving the best to last.

31st December 2018

The path up the Ben this morning when the weather was at its best.

The Douglas Boulder looms out of the mist. A few wee patches of snow can be seen of to the left. There are more significant deposits higher up the hill, these are just not visible due to the cloud.

The former Ben Nevis snowpack…

I think that it is fair to say that from  weather point of view 2018 did not save the best to last. Overall 2018 has been a pretty reason year for weather (in my view at least). However, today was not very pleasant. The morning was cloudy and mild, the afternoon was even cloudy, mild, windy and wet. What is left of the snowpack is now well consolidated.  2019 looks to begin a colder and drier note, it could well be a nice day for a mountain stroll to clear any slight sore heads that might exist head there. However,  the colder conditions are only expected to last a couple of day and there are no signs of a significant snowfall in the forecast.
