Ben Nevis

19th March 2026

High pressure conditions brought another fine sunny day in Lochaber. Despite the mild temperatures the snow remained very firm in the shade, only softening where in the sun. It was also a chance to look at some of the avalanches that came down during the mild spell and rain on the night of the 16th March, some of the debris is pictured below. The snowpack is now well bonded and stable, however some hazard remains from icefall and the potential for cornice collapse where in the sun.  Photos show conditions  on Ben Nevis.
