A warm and windy day on Lochaber

17th March 2026

Today was significantly drier than forecast, which is always a good surprise! Winds were pretty strong so focused mainly on general shots to try to give folk the idea of the general snow cover in the area.
There was a pretty significant rise in temperature last night as seen in the graph below
This created a significant avalanche cycle overnight, but the dry conditions to day have helped to consolidate and stabilise the snowpack

1200m temperatures for the past 5 days

Some light drizzle spoiling the view. It was quite windy at this stage!
