Mild again

25th February 2026

It was another mild, showery day with the freezing level above all summits. Low cloud gave poor visibility.

The snowpack continues to slowly consolidate and cornices remain prone to collapse. Rock and ice fall are an additional hazard in these conditions.

Not great conditions for photographs but some showing conditions at lower elevations on Ben Nevis below.

Looking up Observatory Gully.

Coire na Ciste

Carn Dearg Buttress to Castle Ridge.

I don’t think this snow bridge over the Allt a’ Mhuilinn will last much longer.
