Cold and dry
28th February 2026
It was a cold, dry day with moderate Southerly winds. I headed up Carn Dearg Meadhonach today and got some good views before some cloud moved in mid-morning. The snowpack is mainly very firm and stable with areas of softer snow and windslab being thin and isolated.
Looking along Loch Eil with the Rum Cuillin visible in the distance. Low cloud from a temperature inversion last night burnt off fairly quickly.
Thanks to one of our off-duty forecasters for the pictures below from Ben Nevis.
