Wintery

10th January 2026

Strong South-South-Westerly winds and more snow today made it feel very wintery. Unstable windslab continues to build in both depth and distribution giving an improvement to the skiing conditions.

The weather isn’t looking good for tomorrow with storm force winds for a time overnight reducing to gale force during the day. These is combined with heavy snow overnight which will then turn to rain at all levels during the day as the freezing level rises above the summits. Avalanches will be likely at this time.

Ski tourers enjoying great conditions here on the Goose. Skiing got a bit more challenging further down.

Heading back up for a second lap.

Wintery at Nevis Range today.

A small cornice forming on the side of a drainage ditch at 670 metres.

These big flakes of snow are the result of several smaller flakes sticking together. they were coming straight down here at around 400 metres. Very different conditions higher up with significant drifting.
