Poor visibility

21st January 2026

It was  another morning with poor visibility on the summits. Yesterdays milder conditions have helped consolidate the snowpack. There is now wet snow below 900 metres, a breakable crust from 800 to 1150 metres and some fresh windslab down to around 1000 metres.

Plenty of wet snow at 800 metres. Visibility got much worse above here.

Burn lines are filling in. this was the highest hole in the snowpack on the Allt an t-Sneachda at around 900 metres.

Aonach an Nid disappearing into the cloud.

The cloud lifted in the afternoon. Beinn Bhan (796m) still has some snow.
