Turning mild and Wet.

13th December 2025

After a few overnight showers which fell as snow at higher levels, it was dry early morning. However, around 10.30 am the cloud level dropped,  it started to rain and the freezing level rose. The rain kept up all afternoon with the freezing level rising well above the summits. Looks like more of the same for tomorrow.

Ben Nevis this morning. There had been a few snow showers overnight making the tops look a bit whiter this morning.

The view to the cascade and Carn Dearg Buttress behind. The pink of the inner granite and the green of the moss contrast with the dark brooding (and wet) crags of Carn Dearg behind which are made of different rock type (Andesite lavas).

The view into Coire na Ciste. A bit of snow was observed at the back of the Coire.

Looking up into Observatory Gully around 10.30am. The weather had started to come in by this point.

The view back toward Carn Dearg as the weather started to come in.
