No Snow Visible.
14th December 2025
Another mild and damp day today. The summit of Meall Cumhann in Glen Nevis gave a good panorama despite many of the higher tops being shrouded in cloud. The morning was not too wet, just a bit of drizzle, before some more substantial rain in the early afternoon. It was pretty at windy throughout. No snow was visible. There will be some lurking in the higher coires on Ben Nevis and the Aonachs. Looks like being a bit colder and clearer tomorrow, so hopefully an opportunity to see how much there actually is.
The view from the summit of Meall Cumhann with the tops of the higher hills shrouded in cloud. Aonach Beag on the right, Aonach Mor in the centre of the shot, and Carn Mor Dearg on the left. No snow visible. I am not sure if it had been clear if any patches would have been visible from here as you look onto the South and South-West side of those hills which tend to hold much less snow than the North and East sides.
The view back down Glen Nevis with the Water slide being the line of white on the right hand side of the shot.
A fair bit of water going over Lower Falls in Glen Nevis, the past 36 hours have been fairly wet (38 mm of rainfall in Fort William the 36 hours up to 4am this morning according the SEPA website).
The water level for the River Nevis at Claggan over the past 5 days from the SEPA website. The river responds quickly to rain (and snowmelt when there is significant amounts of snow to melt which is not currently the case). The effect of the rain yesterday afternoon/evening resulted in over a metre rise in the river level before dropping off again overnight. I suspect that if there had been a lot of snow to melt, those peaks in water level would have been significantly larger.
